 ‘The 21 House’ : so-called by the architect due to having been designed in such a way as to create a constant interior temperature of 21 degrees all year round, come rain or shine.  The fact that the owner is a specialist renewable energy systems engineer gave him extra impetus and determination to make this build the energy-efficient utopia. What he and his family have ended up with is a stunning new home that performs to passive standards and beyond.

The owner, Ryan Daly, talks about a ‘fabric first’ approach in his business (Daly Renewables) and we call it, ‘nailing the core.’ Both describe how important it is to get the parts of your build you can’t see; the parts you can’t change, right, the first time. Ryan speaks from experience when he says that windows, insulation and airtightness is where it’s at to ensure your home has optimal energy efficiency and low running costs.
